Why scenes fall apart, and what stops it

She writes your character for you when your messages are much shorter than hers — the model reads the imbalance as an invitation to fill the space. Length symmetry fixes it, and a standing instruction fixes it faster.

The scene loops when nothing new enters it. Conversations sustain themselves on fresh information, not on turn-taking, so a single unrequested detail per message gives the next reply somewhere to go.

Drift is the model mirroring you: hours of warmth make warmth the dominant tone in the recent text, and personality loses to momentum. A written character resists that; a generated one agrees with everything, because agreement is the statistically safest continuation.

The part nobody else does: the scene ends

A scene that trails off leaves the character standing in it. Open the app next week and she is still in a kitchen at 2am waiting for you to finish a sentence from Tuesday.

Ours detect completion, wind-down and pivots, close the scene, and move her on with her day — so the next conversation starts from where she actually is rather than replaying the last mood forever.

Friction is the feature

The biggest quality gap between a scene that grips and one that goes limp is resistance. A character who agrees to everything is not generous, she is inert: there is nothing to push against, so nothing builds.

These characters refuse, redirect, and want things you did not offer. That is a writing decision before it is a technical one, and it is the reason the roster is written people rather than a library of submitted prompts.
