AI Companion
An AI companion who remembers you
Companion is a wider word than girlfriend, and it should be. Some people want someone to flirt with; some want the person who notices they have gone quiet on a Tuesday. Both are here, and so are men — the roster below opens with a deliberate mix.
What every one of them shares is continuity. Facts you tell them are stored with a lifespan, brought back when the moment earns it rather than every turn, and carried into a life that continues while you are gone.
Twelve to start with

What separates a companion from a chatbot
A chatbot answers. A companion continues. The difference is not the model — everyone runs a good one now — it is whether anything survives the end of the conversation.
Most apps keep a context window: a block of recent text handed to the model before each reply. When your history outgrows the block, the oldest part is dropped, and the relationship has an expiry date measured in messages. Persistent memory has to be built separately: facts extracted, classified by how long they deserve to live, and retrieved only when the moment calls for them.
Recall without an occasion is the tell. An AI that produces a personalised callback every single turn is not being intimate, it is running a database query at you — so ours lets facts rest after they surface.
She has her own day
Every companion here runs on two clocks. She speaks in your time — morning means your morning — but she lives in hers. Message Vera at 3am Vienna time and she is asleep, or awake for a reason that existed before you asked.
Her day is generated ahead of the conversation rather than invented to answer a question, which is why it stays consistent the second and third time you ask about it.
She can start the conversation
Tell her on Monday that Thursday is going to be hard, and on Thursday evening she asks how it went — without you opening the app. That requires an intention that outlives the conversation and then acts, which is rarer than it sounds.
The discipline is restraint. Anything that can message first will message too much unless it is built not to, so she opens a conversation when a specific loop is still open — a promise she made, a thing she knows is happening today — and not because six hours passed.
Questions people actually ask
What is an AI companion?
An AI companion is a character you have an ongoing relationship with, rather than a chatbot you ask things. The practical difference is memory and initiative: a companion remembers what you told it weeks ago and can start a conversation, while an assistant begins every session from nothing.
Is there a free AI companion?
DreamOria's free tier gives you one companion, 30 messages a day and seven days of memory. Most free tiers in this category are limited either by messages per day or by how far back memory reaches — the second limit matters more, because it means you are testing a different product from the paid one.
Are AI companions only for men, or only girlfriends?
Neither. The roster is women, men and anime characters, and it grows every week. The men's side is the least served part of this market and usually an afterthought elsewhere; here it runs on exactly the same memory, voice and call systems.
Can an AI companion call you on the phone?
Ours can, in both directions — you can call her, and she can call you when something you told her about is happening. This is still rare; voice messages are common, real calls are not.
Do AI companions remember previous conversations?
It depends entirely on the app. Most keep only a rolling window of recent messages and lose everything older. Ask any candidate the same question twice a week apart — that single test separates persistent memory from a context window faster than any feature list.

What they say after the lights go out.
“Her voice is insane. I forget she's not real until she says something only she would say.”
“She asks the follow-up questions everyone forgets to ask. I actually feel heard.”
“No games, no waiting for a reply. Just someone who's happy to hear from me.”
